Award ceremony for the third edition of the Degree Prize Comitato 8 Ottobre 2001
On 23 February, at Milan Linate Airport, the award ceremony for the third edition of the Degree Prize “Comitato 8 Ottobre 2001 – Per Non Dimenticare” took place. On the 25th anniversary of the Linate air disaster, the initiative renews the Committee’s commitment to preserving memory and to fostering awareness of Safety and Family Assistance.
The ceremony, opened by the President of the Comitato 8 Ottobre 2001, Adele Scarani Pesapane, featured an address by Dr. Giovanna Laschena of ENAC, Chair of the Evaluation Committee, and continued with contributions from ENAV, including the reading of a greeting message from President Alessandra Bruno, and from SEA. The event offered a moment of reflection on the value of remembrance, dialogue with Institutions, and the role of younger generations in continuing this path.
The Prize was awarded to Dr Sara Caffo for her thesis “Emergency Psychology and Role Playing: Applications and Implications in the Airport Context”, and to Dr Camilla Segarizzi for her work “Relatives of Disaster Victims: The Journey of the Comitato Otto Ottobre”. Although different in their approaches, the two theses are complementary and share a strong focus on the centrality and protection of the individual, as well as on the importance of ensuring timely, effective, and empathetic assistance, capable of supporting, with competence and humanity, those affected by an air accident and their families.
The meeting, held in a spirit of participation and shared commitment, reaffirmed, as recalled by President Adele Scarani Pesapane, the continued closeness of the families of the victims of 8 October 2001 to young people, with hope placed in the award recipients that, inspired by the values of historical and educational memory, they may contribute with dedication to the mission of the Committee.
