Last week, Comitato and Fondazione 8 Ottobre took part in the work of the ICAO Facilitation Panel, held at ICAO Headquarters in Montréal, with the participation of one of its expert members within the ICAO Working Group on AAAVF, in support of ENAC.
Within the framework of the Working Group’s activities, it was possible to share an update on the state of international initiatives in the field of Family Assistance, reaffirming a fundamental principle: people affected must remain at the centre of every action, namely the victims of aircraft accidents and their families. This commitment requires the responsible and coordinated cooperation of all stakeholders, starting with States, which are called upon to provide leadership, ensure regulatory consistency, and pay concrete attention to the human and social needs that emerge in crisis situations.
In parallel, with the aim of strengthening competencies and fostering a solid culture of assistance, the Fondazione 8 Ottobre participated at the end of March in the Train the Trainer TIC course at the JAA Training Organisation (JAA TO) in Amsterdam. This training pathway was aimed at the development of new courses, training programmes and awareness-raising activities on Family Assistance, with the objective of providing increasingly effective support to the national and international stakeholders involved in the management and assistance of victims and their families.
This commitment confirms the willingness of the Committee and the Foundation to contribute not only to international dialogue, but also to the growth of competencies, so that Family Assistance is increasingly grounded in preparedness, responsibility and a strong people-centred approach.
